MESSAGE FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER

Dear Residents,

Winter may have settled in, but Fourways Gardens has been anything but quiet. June was an exceptionally busy month for our Estate operations team, with several important projects progressing alongside a full calendar of community activities.

June in Review: Fourways Gardens Trail Running and MTB Festival

One of the highlights of our winter calendar was undoubtedly the Fourways Gardens Trail Running and MTB Festival, held on Youth Day, 16 June. It was wonderful to see residents, families, runners and cycling enthusiasts coming together for a morning of activity, friendly competition and community spirit.

Thank you to every participant and supporter, as well as to our generous sponsors: Tyson Properties, Melo Velo, 24-7 Security, Nutr8 Deli, iTile, RealFood4Sure and PostNet. Our appreciation also goes to the dedicated team who worked behind the scenes to bring the event together.

A special word of thanks must go to the ever-energetic Coach Smish, whose passion and commitment have played a pivotal role in the development of the FWG Bike Park and our cycling events. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Damian Booth for his tireless efforts and generous contribution of time and energy in helping to maintain and improve the Bike Park. Occasions such as these are a welcome reminder of the shared energy and involvement that give Fourways Gardens its enduring sense of community.

Dam and Waterway Rehabilitation

One of the Estate’s most significant long-term environmental projects is now progressing towards active maintenance implementation: the continued rehabilitation of our dam and stormwater watercourse.

Environmental compliance remains an integral part of this programme, in line with GDARD requirements.

The dam and waterways are among Fourways Gardens’ most valued natural assets. This programme represents a meaningful, properly governed investment in their rehabilitation, environmental health and long-term sustainability.

Landscape Maintenance and Projects

Our landscape maintenance programme has continued throughout the winter months, with Life Green Group attending to the Estate’s open spaces, green belts and road verges.

Although growth naturally slows during winter, this remains an important period for planned maintenance and preparation ahead of the warmer months.

Work is also progressing towards the completion of the Phase 1 Park upgrade, which represents the culmination of several AGM planning cycles. The project reflects our continued commitment to enhancing the Estate’s amenities and creating well-considered shared spaces for residents, with several final elements still being completed.

The expanded parking area is already providing improved capacity for the larger crowds drawn by our community events, while a section of the new parking has been positioned closer to the K56 Phase 1 entrance to improve access and convenience. New play equipment for younger children has also been installed, helping to ensure that the park remains an inclusive and welcoming space for residents of all ages.

Coming Up in July

The FWG Farmers Market which will take place on Sunday, 5 July is already a much-loved event bringing local producers, artisans and neighbours together for a relaxed morning of good food, live entertainment and community connection. Please keep an eye on the Fourways Gardens App, social media channels and noticeboards for the latest vendor information and future event details.

Later in the month, our Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday, 23 July. I encourage every homeowner to either attend the meeting or submit a completed proxy form.

The AGM provides homeowners with an important opportunity to engage with the Board of Directors, receive formal reports on the affairs of the Estate and participate in the governance of the community we all call home. The formal notice and supporting documentation will be circulated shortly.

The Gardens Bistro

The Gardens Bistro continues to prove itself the social heart of Fourways Gardens this July, with a calendar busy enough to suit every mood.

Rugby fans have three big screenings to look forward to, as England, Scotland and Wales each take on the Springboks at 17h40, with live music and the Bistro’s much-loved boerie rolls adding to the atmosphere.

For those after something a little different, Name That Tune brings a fun music challenge to the Clubhouse Hall on 17 July, while Quiz Night returns on 24 July for residents to put their general knowledge, and their bragging rights, on the line. The Murder Mystery Dinner on 25 July promises an evening of intrigue and prizes for the best dressed. Paint Night on 30 July offers a relaxed evening of art and conversation in the Vine Room, and the month wraps up with the Monthly Draw on 31 July, complete with a R10,500 cash kitty and live music.

Whether residents are cheering on the Boks, testing their wits, or simply catching up with neighbours over a meal, the Bistro remains one of the places where Fourways Gardens comes together.

As we move through the heart of winter, I would like to thank our residents, staff, service providers and community partners for their continued cooperation and support. The positive feedback received from residents keeps us motivated as we continue working to maintain and improve  Your Sanctuary in the City.
