MESSAGE FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER
Dear Residents,
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in support of the many
brave individuals who have faced or been affected by this disease, the HOA has
wrapped trees in pink along the Bushwillow / Camdeboo circle. It’s a small
gesture, but one that symbolises our solidarity, hope, and community spirit.
We’ll also be hosting an Awareness Talk with Reach for Recovery
later this month — an opportunity to extend support to the broader Fourways
Gardens community, especially the wonderful women who are so often overlooked:
our nannies, caregivers, domestic helpers and others who form part of our
extended family.
The Gardens Bistro has joined in the initiative, wrapping some of their
trees in pink and using pink napkins on Fridays. Let’s take these visual
reminders as prompts to have important conversations — to raise awareness,
share encouragement, and remember that early detection saves lives.
Of course, October also brings one of the biggest highlights on our
social calendar — Trick-or-Treat on 25 October! This much-loved event
never fails to delight. The atmosphere, creativity, and sense of fun make it a
truly special evening for families across the Estate. The HOA will once again
be hosting an epic Sweetie Spot, so be sure to stop by, say hello, and
grab a treat!
Meanwhile, the Gardens Bistro remains a lively hub for residents,
with a fantastic lineup of events this month — from rugby screenings and the
Bubble Festival to Quiz Night and the Monthly Draw. There’s always something to
look forward to! These gatherings remind us of just how fortunate we are to
live in such a vibrant, family-oriented community right here at home.
We’re also thrilled to share some great news — the River Desilting Project
has been completed, and what a transformation it is! Walkways have been
reinstalled, new pathway lighting added, and fresh grass is being planted. The
area is already buzzing with wildlife, and it won’t be long before it’s once
again a favourite space for residents to explore and enjoy.
In partnership with Life Green Group, a variety of grass and reed
species are being planted to enhance the waterway and the dam’s ecological
health and attract a diverse range of fauna. Additional fish have also been
introduced, bringing new life to this beautiful part of the Estate. We can’t
wait to see your photos as the riverway, and dam areas reopen — it’s going to
be spectacular! If you have any questions or feedback regarding the River
Project, please don’t hesitate to send me an email (estatemanager@fwg.co.za).
While our beautiful environment and facilities are something to be proud
of, what truly sets Fourways Gardens apart is its people. From welcoming
new residents and creating the lively event atmosphere we’re known for, to
those who selflessly give their time, skills, and resources for the benefit of
others, you are the heart of this community.
A few special mentions are due:
We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Board of Directors,
who dedicate countless hours — often behind the scenes and without remuneration
— to make difficult decisions in the best interests of our Estate. Your
commitment, care, and perseverance do not go unnoticed.
It’s the people of Fourways Gardens who make it such a joy to
live here — a community like no other, and a true sanctuary in the city.
We look forward
to seeing you at some of our upcoming events!
Warm regards,
Charlene Marlin
