MESSAGE FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER
Dear Residents,
October has been a month full of activity and community spirit!
To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, pink-wrapped trees brightened the Bushwillow x Camdeboo traffic circle and the HOA parking lot, while The Gardens Bistro joined in by wrapping trees at the Terrace and Club Lawn area and offering pink napkins – all in the hope of sparking meaningful conversations around this important cause. We also hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness talk for Domestic Workers and Caregivers – our extended Fourways Gardens community – made possible through the generous sponsorship of UniQ Properties. The Bubbles Festival further supported the cause by raising funds for Pink Drive, alongside the HOA’s donation to Reach for Recovery, ensuring this vital work continues.
Of course, October and Trick-or-Treat go hand in hand, and this year’s event was once again the talk of the town! Haunted houses, Sweetie Spots across the Estate, and countless Wednesdays Addams on the hunt for sweets made it an unforgettable evening. The HOA team’s own Addams Family Sweetie Spot featured two Morticias, two Wednesdays, a Gomez, an Uncle Fester, and even an animatronic Thing – which left more than a few Trick-or-Treaters spellbound. Thank you to everyone for your enthusiastic participation, and to Malherbex for their generous sponsorship. (Look out for our full recap in next month’s issue!)
Another October highlight was the reopening of the Phase 2 Dam. The 2025 river restoration project has been completed, with new grasses taking root along the revitalised banks. Pathways have been re-laid, park lights refitted, and a host of thoughtful touches have transformed this area into one of the Estate’s gems. If you haven’t already done so, take some time to visit with your family and enjoy the tranquillity – and the growing variety of birdlife now returning to the dam.
Looking ahead, November ushers in the Festive Season, beginning with our Festive Market on Saturday, 8 November 2025. This much-loved event always attracts strong vendor interest—a testament to the incredible community support it enjoys each year. In partnership with Meridian Realty, this year’s market will be a true festive wonderland, featuring face painting, a bubble bounce house and live music. Be sure to save the date! Later in the month, we’ll host our Children’s Christmas Party, a highlight for the Estate’s younger residents, and the Classics Club Christmas Luncheon will bring the month to a close. This year, Gaye Cawood Realty and Evergreen Broadacres are teaming up to ensure that the Classics Club members welcome the Festive Season in style! There’s truly something for everyone at Fourways Gardens this November.
It’s hard to believe we’re already talking about the festive season in a year that’s been so full of progress! One of the most significant milestones has been the conclusion of the Access Control RFP and the rollout of our new access control system. The facial recognition technology trialled during the proof-of-concept phase has proven to be a real game-changer, even winning over its toughest critics. The Fourways Gardens App will soon follow, offering an integrated solution for access control, bookings, and Estate communications, with a phased rollout over the coming weeks.
As we move into this special time of year, there are also opportunities to give back. The Douglasdale CPF Toy Drive will have collection points at the HOA office and at the Festive Market, and our traditional Festive Giving initiative for our hardworking Security and Landscaping Teams will soon be underway. Please keep an eye on our newsletter and notice boards for more details.
Wishing you a wonderful start to the Festive Season – I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
Warm regards,
Charlene Marlin
