MESSAGE FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER

Dear Residents,

As we step into June, it’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through 2025. The months seem to fly past at an incredible pace, a reminder of how precious time is – and how important it is to spend it wisely, surrounded by community, nature, and purpose.

June is a special month for reflection, especially as we commemorate Youth Day on 16 June, a poignant moment in South Africa’s history. It serves as both a tribute to the courageous youth of 1976 and a call to action to continue nurturing the generations of tomorrow.

Here in Fourways Gardens Estate, we are privileged to offer a space where young people can grow, thrive, and dream. Our estate is not just a residential development; it’s our sanctuary in the city, a community where multi-generational families come together to raise their children in a secure and nurturing environment. Whether its grandparents walking the dogs with toddlers in tow, or parents cycling with their teens through our paths, the sense of connection and care is ever-present.

We are especially proud of the incredible facilities that make our estate a magnet for families:

• A bike park where future MTB champions are born,
• Dog parks where furry friends and kids alike burn off steam,
• Cricket nets, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer fields, and rugby posts offering space for all sports enthusiasts,
• And a vibrant calendar of child-centered activities such as karate classes, drama classes, Little Kickers soccer, and Rugby Tots.

Among our standout initiatives are two events that have captured the imagination of our younger residents and continue to grow in popularity each year – EcoKids and the Junior Entrepreneur Market.

EcoKids is more than just a fun environmental awareness programme; it’s a dynamic, hands-on educational experience that encourages curiosity about the natural world. From learning about local ecosystems and wildlife conservation to practical sessions on recycling, sustainability, and even composting, EcoKids sparks a love for the environment while instilling a sense of responsibility. It’s incredible to witness how this programme nurtures future scientists, conservationists, and environmental leaders – all within the safety and support of our estate.

Similarly, the Junior Entrepreneur Market is a brilliant platform that gives young residents the chance to explore the exciting world of business. These markets allow kids to create, market, and sell their own products – from homemade crafts and baked goods to innovative service ideas. Through this, they gain real-world skills in budgeting, branding, customer service, and communication. More importantly, it’s an opportunity for them to discover passions they may not have previously considered, potentially igniting the first spark of a future career path. Keep your eyes open for the Market communication planned for August 2025!

These programmes do more than entertain – they empower our youth by exposing them to new, exciting, and diverse ventures. They create space for exploration, innovation, and confidence-building that often lays the foundation for meaningful futures.

A related upcoming event is Father’s Day on Sunday, 15 June 2025, and The Gardens Bistro has an exciting lineup planned! On this day, we celebrate the men who lead by example, support their families with quiet strength, and show up in both the big and small moments. Whether you’re a dad, stepdad, grandfather, or father figure, your presence matters. From weekend braais and school runs to words of advice and steady encouragement, your role in shaping both family and community life is deeply appreciated. Here’s to recognising all the fathers and everyday champions.

In Fourways Gardens Estate, we believe in planting more than trees – we plant dreams, ideas, and inspiration. The magic happens when young minds are given the freedom to explore and the support to grow. This Mandela Day, we invite you to be part of a meaningful celebration under the theme “Planting for Future Generations”. In partnership with the City of Johannesburg and Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, Fourways Gardens will host a community-wide tree planting event on Friday, 18 July 2025. Come lend a hand as we green our estate, honour Madiba’s legacy, and invest in a thriving urban canopy for tomorrow. Whether you’re a resident, student, or organisation seeking to make a difference, your 67 minutes can help grow something truly lasting.
