MESSAGE FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER
Dear Residents,
As we settle into the heart of winter, July brings with it a wealth of activity and a renewed sense of community spirit at Fourways Gardens. Itβs a time when governance, growth, and giving back all take centre stage as we navigate this vibrant month together.
One of the most significant dates on our calendar is the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Fourways Gardens Homeownersβ Association, which will take place on Thursday, 31 July 2025. The AGM offers an important platform for Members to engage with the affairs of the Estate, reflect on our financial performance, and vote on matters that impact our collective future.
In the lead-up to the AGM, the HOA shared the updated 2025 FWG Estate Conduct and Open Area Rules with Members at the end of May. These revised rules aim to reinforce shared standards regarding behaviour, community responsibility, and the appropriate use of our beautiful, shared spaces. A notable addition is the new Property Sale and Lease Policy, which now forms part of our official Conduct Rules. This policy was introduced to align the Estateβs procedures with the requirements of the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA), ensuring legal compliance and greater transparency in all sale and lease transactions. Whether you are selling your home or renting it out, the policy sets clear expectations for homeowners and the practitioners they engage. We urge all Members to familiarise themselves with the policy to ensure smooth processes and continued compliance with the governing legislation.
Another highlight this month is our Mandela Day Event, which takes place on Friday, 18 July 2025. In proud collaboration with the City of Johannesburg, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, and Life Green Group, Fourways Gardens will host a tree-planting initiative under the theme βPlanting for Future Generations.β This yearβs event promises to be special, honouring Nelson Mandelaβs legacy through meaningful environmental action and community engagement. This initiative supports our broader environmental goals and continues the spirit of the Estateβs EcoKids programme. We welcome all residents, families, and students to join in this rewarding day of service; volunteer hours can be logged for those who participate.
Regarding environmental progress, we are pleased to report that the second year of the Estateβs riverway desilting project is currently in progress. This vital initiative continues to enhance water flow, minimise the risk of flooding, and restore the ecological integrity of the river corridor. We appreciate residentsβ understanding as this work advances, and we are confident that the long-term benefits will be significant.
As our community continues to grow, we are also planning another New Residents Meet & Greet this month. These events have become a beloved tradition, providing newcomers with a warm welcome and an opportunity to connect with fellow residents and the HOA team. If youβre new to FWG, we look forward to seeing you there!
Of course, July also means rugby season is in full swing. The Gardens Bistro will be screening all the action on the big screen, serving up hearty meals, drinks, and a festive atmosphere. Whether you’re watching with family, friends, or even a friendly rival, thereβs no better place to enjoy the game than right here in your own backyard.
All these initiatives β big and small β reflect what makes Fourways Gardens such a special place to call home. Our recent social media campaigns have been highlighting just that, celebrating the unique blend of nature, security, and neighbourliness that makes this Estate your true βSanctuary in the City.β Have you noticed the new digital screen located at the Security Office? This modern display, which replaces the old scrolling board, now showcases vibrant visuals of our beautiful Estate, upcoming events, important notices, and reminders β keeping residents informed and engaged in a more dynamic way. Be sure to check it out as you come and go! You can also stay connected and keep up to date with whatβs happening in our Estate by following us on Facebook (https://web.facebook.com/FWGEstate) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/fwgestate/).
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. I look forward to seeing many of you during this active and inspiring month.
Warm regards,
Charlene Marlin
