MESSAGE FROM THE ESTATE MANAGER

Dear Residents, 

March brought with it a wonderful line-up of community events, beginning with our much-anticipated annual Campout. Fortunately, the weather played along, offering us a welcome break in the rains and a memorable evening under the stars. Later in the month, our Easter Egg Hunt delivered plenty of “egg-stravagant” fun, delighting our youngest residents and their families.

We also hosted our first EcoKids event of the year, centred on sustainability. The morning explored both food sustainability through our Estate fruit trees, as well as horticulture, with an engaging and educational segment on water-wise planting. By invitation, we were delighted to welcome 20 young learners from the Good Hope Foundation, a Diepsloot-based NPO, allowing us to share the excitement and learning experience beyond the Estate’s borders.

Behind the scenes, our maintenance team has also installed a back-up water supply at the Phase 1 Park to keep ablution facilities operational during water interruptions. This will ensure that the show can go on when Estate events coincide with service disruptions. Unfortunately, Pikitup refuse collection has been less reliable in recent weeks, with several industrial action-related interruptions causing inconvenience and raising hygiene concerns in affected areas. As we finalise the 2026/2027 budget, the HOA and Board of Directors remain mindful of the need to build greater resilience into our planning in response to these realities.

The Phase 1 Park play area is also undergoing a significant refresh. Shade netting has already been installed over the formal sandpit area, with new play equipment scheduled for installation in a few weeks. . So, watch this space, the revitalised Phase 1 Park play area will be irresistible, and we look forward to the many special moments that lie ahead!

March and April are meaningful months for many residents of faith within our Estate. While our Muslim community celebrated Eid al-Fitr and the conclusion of Ramadan in mid-March, April brings Passover and Easter for our Jewish and Christian residents. We wish everyone observing these occasions a special and meaningful time with loved ones. Our community’s integrated and welcoming spirit remains something we are truly proud of — a place where people from all walks of life feel at home.

A touching and special farewell for Lloyd Mesa, our long-serving Bike Park officer, was held in February. Coach Smish has captured the occasion in a heartfelt recap that reflects the wonderful community spirit and engagement that Lloyd inspired over the years. Lloyd, we wish you every success in your retirement, and thank you for your friendliness, ever-present smile, and the helpful way in which you served our community.

April offers a welcome breather after an exceptionally busy March, with long weekends and school holidays providing a chance to pause and recharge. Activity picks up again in May, with a number of large community events on the calendar. Our next Farmer’s Market takes place on Sunday, 3 May 2026 at the Phase 1 Park, promising a smorgasbord of foodie delights, live music, face painting, and a strong line-up of eager vendors. The first Movie Night of the year is also scheduled for May, with an exciting title to be announced—keep an eye out for further details on these much-anticipated events.
